Exceptional Friction & Wear Resistance: Features a low dynamic coefficient of friction (0.37–0.46) and excellent wear factors, ensuring smooth, silent operation in sliding components without requiring frequent lubrication.
Superior Chemical & Fuel Resistance: Outstanding resistance to organic solvents, greases, oils, fuels, and strong alkalis, preventing stress cracking in demanding chemical or automotive fluid environments.
High Mechanical Strength & Creep Resistance: Combines high tensile strength (62 MPa) and flexural modulus (2500 MPa) with long-term creep resistance, retaining dimensional integrity under continuous structural load.
Low Moisture Absorption & High Dimensional Stability: With a minimal 24-hour water absorption rate of just 0.5%, components molded from M90-44 maintain strict tolerances in humid operating conditions.
Excellent Processing Efficiency & Moldability: Formulated with a balanced melt flow rate (MFR 9.0 g/10min), facilitating fast cycle times, easy mold release, and minimal flash during mass injection molding.
Automotive Industry: Fuel system components (fuel pump housings, tank valves), door lock mechanisms, window regulator gears, seatbelt retractor parts, and wiper arm clips.
Precision Mechanical Components: Industrial gears, bearings, cams, conveyor belt links, rollers, pulleys, and precision bushings requiring low friction and long service life.
Consumer Electronics & Appliances: Internal gears for printers and copiers, washing machine valve components, coffee machine water valves, power tool housings, and audio/video tape drive gears.
Plumbing & Sanitary Fittings: Showerhead internal components, faucet cartridges, water meter housings, and valve stems exposed to continuous hot and cold water contact.
Industrial & General Hardware: Zippers, fasteners, toy mechanisms, conveyor chains, and office chair adjustment components requiring high wear resistance.
Q1: What are the recommended drying conditions for DURACON® M90-44 before injection molding?
A1: Although POM absorbs very little moisture (0.5%), pre-drying is strongly recommended if the resin pellets have been exposed to high humidity or stored for extended periods. The optimal drying condition is 80–90 °C for 3–4 hours using a hot-air or desiccant dryer. Overdrying above 100 °C or for more than 8 hours should be avoided to prevent thermal discoloration.
Q2: How does POM Copolymer (DURACON® M90-44) compare to POM Homopolymer (such as Delrin®)?
A2: POM Copolymer (DURACON® M90-44) exhibits higher thermal stability, lower mold deposit formation during long molding runs, superior resistance to strong alkalis, and reduced risk of central porosity in thick parts. In contrast, POM Homopolymer generally offers slightly higher short-term tensile strength and stiffness but is more susceptible to thermal degradation and alkaline attack.
Q3: Does Polyplastics DURACON® M90-44 comply with RoHS and UL environmental/safety standards?
A3: Yes. DURACON® M90-44 complies with EU RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU) and REACH regulations, containing no heavy metals or restricted phthalates. Additionally, it carries a UL 94 HB flammability rating (File No. E45574). Specific batch-related REACH/RoHS compliance declarations and UL Yellow Cards are available upon request from our technical sales team.
