Wanhua Chemical CLARNATE® A1105 is a high-quality polycarbonate (PC) engineering plastic resin independently developed by the world-renowned advanced materials manufacturer, Wanhua Chemical. The product is supplied in standard pellet form and exhibits a colorless, highly clear/transparent visual characteristic in appearance.

1. What are the drying conditions for Wanhua Chemical PC A1105 prior to injection molding, and why is drying mandatory?
A: Polycarbonate (PC) is extremely sensitive to moisture traces. If the moisture content exceeds the limit, a hydrolysis reaction will occur during high-temperature injection molding, resulting in silver streaks and bubbles on the product surface, while severely degrading the material’s impact strength.
Recommended Drying Conditions: It is recommended to dry the material at 120 °C for 4 to 5 hours using a hot-air circulating dryer, or at 120 °C for 3 to 4 hours using a dehumidifying dryer.
Precautions: The hopper after drying should be kept sealed, and the material should be consumed as soon as possible after drying is complete. Avoid exposing the raw material to the air for more than 30 minutes to prevent secondary moisture absorption.
2. Compared to common transparent materials such as PMMA (Acrylic) and AS resin, what are the core advantages of CLARNATE® A1105?
A: Although PMMA and AS also possess excellent transparency, their fatal weaknesses are brittleness, lack of drop resistance, and low temperature resistance.
Impact Resistance: The impact strength of PC A1105 (800 J/m) is several to dozens of times that of PMMA. It is recognized as a “bulletproof plastic” and is extremely difficult to break when dropped.
Heat Resistance: The heat deflection temperature of A1105 is as high as 130 °C, whereas the service temperature of PMMA and AS can rarely exceed 80 – 90 °C. Therefore, for transparent products that require boiling water brewing, high-temperature drying, or have certain heat resistance requirements (such as baby bottles and electric kettle bodies), PC A1105 must be the premier choice.
