As a leading global provider of engineering plastic solutions, ZiJun Plastics is dedicated to developing high-performance transparent materials. Our High-Transparency Traceless Toughened PMMA (Short Name: Toughened PMMA / Acrylic Resin) is a modified engineering plastic specifically designed for high-end nail art and optical products. Through advanced molecular chain toughening technology, it achieves a perfect balance of extremely high light transmittance while completely solving the technical pain points of brittleness and whitening upon bending found in traditional materials.
Optical-Grade High Transparency: Light transmittance ≥92%, ensuring nail art finished products are crystal clear with pure color.
Superior Impact Resistance & Toughness: After toughening modification, the material possesses excellent flexibility and is traceless after 180° bending, significantly reducing the risk of fracture.
Excellent Processing Performance: Optimized melt flow for injection molding processes effectively reduces stress marks and silver streaks, improving the yield rate of finished products.
Professional physical parameters serve as the core basis for engineers to conduct mold design and production benchmarking. The table below displays the typical physical properties of ZiJun Plastics Toughened PMMA and the international testing standards (such as ASTM) followed.
| Property | Typical Value | Unit |
| Density | 1.13 | g/cm³ |
| Flexural Modulus | 1270 | MPa |
| Izod Notched Impact | 58.8 | J/m |
| HDT | 65 | °C |
| Volume Resistivity | 2.00E+10 | ohms·cm |
Note: The above data are typical values measured in standard laboratory environments. ZiJun Plastics can provide customized grade parameter adjustments based on customers’ specific injection mold requirements.
With its balanced physical characteristics, this Toughened PMMA granule has been widely applied in multiple industries requiring both aesthetic appearance and structural strength:
Nail Art & Beauty Industry:
Premium Nail Tips: Solves the issues of insufficient transparency in traditional ABS tips and the brittleness of standard PMMA, achieving a “traceless folding” effect.
Press-on Nails: Excellent colorability and surface gloss, suitable for complex printing and coating processes.
Automotive Industry:
Headlamp Lenses: Resists yellowing under long-term UV exposure and possesses impact toughness against stone chips.
Interior Trims: Replaces painting processes to achieve high-gloss black or transparent textures.
Electronics & Optics:
Display Protection Panels: High hardness combined with impact resistance protects precision screens.
LED Light Guide Components: Extremely low impurity content ensures minimal light loss.
To help buyers make the best choice between budget and performance, we compare Toughened PMMA with common alternative materials:
| Dimension | Toughened PMMA | Standard PMMA | PC (Polycarbonate) |
| Impact Resistance | Excellent (Modified) | Lower (Brittle) | Extremely High |
| Transparency/Gloss | Highest (≈92%) | Highest | Slightly Lower (with base tint) |
| Bending Whitening | None (Traceless) | Prone to Cracking | Prone to Internal Stress |
| Weatherability/UV | Excellent | Excellent | Fair (Requires additives) |
| Overall Cost | Medium | Lower | Higher |
To ensure the best transparency and physical strength of the finished product, the ZiJun Plastics technical team recommends following these processing parameters:
Q1: What makes “Traceless” PMMA different from standard Acrylic?
A: Standard PMMA (Acrylic) is known for being brittle; it often cracks or turns white (stress whitening) when bent. Our Traceless Toughened PMMA is modified with specialized impact modifiers. This allows the material to be bent or flexed—specifically for Nail Tips—without leaving any white marks or fracturing, maintaining 100% clarity.
Q2: Is this material suitable for high-speed injection molding?
A: Yes. We have optimized the Melt Flow Rate (MFR) to between 8 – 15 g/10min. This ensures excellent flowability for thin-walled parts like nail tips or electronic covers, reducing cycle times and minimizing processing defects like silver streaks or bubbles.
Q3: Does the “Toughening” process affect the transparency?
A: Not at all. Our modified formula ensures the refractive index remains consistent. The Light Transmittance remains at ≥92%, which is equivalent to optical-grade PMMA. It provides the crystal-clear aesthetic required for premium consumer goods.
Q4: What are the recommended drying conditions before processing?
A: PMMA is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture). To avoid surface defects, we recommend pre-drying the resin in a dehumidifying dryer at 80 – 90°C for 4 – 6 hours. The moisture content should be kept below 0.03% for optimal results.
Q5: Does ZiJun Plastics provide compliance certifications for international export?
A: Absolutely. Our Toughened PMMA is fully compliant with REACH and RoHS standards. For customers in the beauty or food-contact industry, we can also provide grades that meet FDA safety requirements. Every batch comes with a COA (Certificate of Analysis).
